The tool that tells you how it really is
Recently, I’ve feeling dehydrated AF. I’m talking dry skin, lips splitting, and just plain thirsty. Anyone else?
What’s wild is that I’ve had a target of 90oz of water per day that I’ve been following pretty freaking consistently...or so I thought.
But here’s the truth: I haven’t actually tracked my water intake in months. So, I busted out one of the most powerful (and underrated) tools out there—self-auditing.
In this circumstance it meant actually tracking my water intake for a few days and reassessing my systems. The first day I tracked my water intake, it ended up being closer to 70oz of water. Which definitely means that there have likely been quite a few days that I wasn’t getting in enough. This was eye opening.
(And yes, this still would have been helpful even if I was hitting my 90oz, because then I would’ve realized that my body actually needs more!)
Here’s what I love about this tool: self-auditing is always eye opening, it ALWAYS gives direction and clarity, and it shines a light on what’s working and what isn’t- without judgment.
If more people used this tool, they wouldn’t feel stuck or confused, spinning their wheels without progress.
If this is you, here’s one thing I know for sure: you’re not broken, you’re just not doing what you think you’re doing.
This is a tool we lean on heavily inside Wicked Iron Strength. Whether it’s through 1:1 Coaching or Nutrition Foundations, everyone learns how to self-audit with curiosity and compassion. It’s baked into our systems to help people identify what’s working and what’s not—so we can make small but meaningful adjustments and keep moving forward.
When done right, self-auditing is an absolute game-changer for growth. And the best part? You can use it in every layer of your life.
Here’s a simple framework to try:
What’s actually happening? Track honestly and without judgment. This could be food, water, alcohol, time, etc.
What’s going well? Identify the systems that are working well. Also don’t forgeet to celebrate these wins—big or small.
What’s challenging? Identify roadblocks without overanalyzing.
What can I adjust? Pinpoint one small tweak or identify what systems need to be implemented to improve consistency or results.
